Depart Heathrow 1150 on British Airways, arriving Nice 1500. Continue to Hotel Le Grimaldi for seven nights.
Morning lecture followed by walking tour of Nice. Afternoon: Musée des Beaux-Arts (Old Masters) and Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain.
Morning lecture followed by Musée Chagall (Biblical Message) and Musée Matisse. Afternoon: St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat for Ephrussi de Rothschild Villa and Gardens (paintings, sculpture, furniture and magnificent gardens).
Morning: Fondation Maeght (20th century art including Miró, Chagall, Matisse and Léger) and St Paul de Vence (ramparts). Afternoon: Matisse’s celebrated Chapelle du Rosaire.
Menton: walking tour of old town, Salle des Mariages and Musée Jean Cocteau Collection Séverin Wunderman (murals by Jean Cocteau). La Turbie (Roman monument) and Villefranche-sur-Mer (Cocteau murals in fishermen’s chapel).
Via Musée National Fernand Léger in Biot to Antibes: free time, Musée Picasso, Chateau de Vallauris (Picasso collection and chapel).
Transfer by coach to St Tropez (favoured haunt of artists since the 1890s): walking tour of old port, Musée de l’Annonciade (Bonnard, Maillol, Matisse and Signac) housed in former chapel of Pénitents Blancs. Return via boat and coach to Nice.
Some free time. Depart Nice 1550, arriving Heathrow 1655.
