Tour assembles 1400 at Worcester Whitehouse Hotel for four nights. Welcome and introduction followed by short orientation walking tour. Evening festival performance featuring Ruby Hughes (soprano), Njabulo Madlala (baritone) and Adrian Partington (conductor): Mendelssohn The Hebrides (overture); Copland Appalachian Spring; Gibbs Odysseus.
Morning lecture followed by late morning festival concert featuring Linarol Consort of Viols and James Gilchrist (tenor): music from the court of Maximilian in ‘Will niemand singen?’ Afternoon festival performance featuring the Marian Consort: works by Scarlatti, Dani Howard and Gabriel Jackson. Evening festival performance at Worcester Cathedral featuring Guy Johnston (cello) and Anna-Maria Helsing (conductor): Beethoven Egmont (overture); Howells Cello Concerto; Elgar Symphony No 3.
Morning excursion to Nicholson & Co Pipe Organ Builders. Afternoon: visit to The Firs (Elgar’s birthplace and museum) followed by lecture. Evening festival performance at Worcester Cathedral featuring Nick Pritchard (tenor) and David Hill (conductor): John Adams Short Ride in a Fast Machine; Ēriks Ešenvalds The Pleiades; Gabriel Jackson Festival Commission (premiere).
Morning lecture followed by late morning festival concert featuring National Youth Choir of Great Britain: Tallis Spem in Alium; works by Mathias, Roxanna Panufnik, Kerry Andrew, James Macmillan, Ēriks Ešenvalds and John Casken. Free afternoon. Evening festival performance at Worcester Cathedral featuring Bozidar Smiljanic (baritone) and Samuel Hudson (conductor): Beethoven Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage; Vaughan Williams Songs of Travel; Walton Belshazzar’s Feast.

FITNESS & PRACTICALITIES
These tours involve a moderate amount of walking, and participants must be prepared for traversing potentially uneven ground, cobbles, steps and dimly lit interiors.
Cost of £1325 includes: accommodation based on sharing a twin or double bedded room, performances as described, breakfast, one lunch, dinner with water & coffee, excursions & admissions, gratuities.
