Itinerary

Day

1

Depart Heathrow 1035 on British Airways, arriving Dublin 1205. Transfer to Wexford for four nights at the Clayton Whites Hotel. Walking tour of Wexford followed by welcome and introduction to Margherita.

Day

2

Morning excursion to Curraghmore (ancestral seat of the Marquesses of Waterford with 1770 interiors by James Wyatt). Afternoon visit to Waterford (Viking remains, medieval walls, Gothic cathedrals, Bishops Palace, Medieval Museum, Reginald’s Tower). Evening performance at Wexford Opera House: Jacopo Foroni Margherita.

Private backstage tour of Wexford Opera House and morning lecture: Introduction to Risurrezione. Afternoon festival ‘shortwork’ at the Clayton Whites Hotel: Rossini La Scala di seta (’The Silken Ladder’). Evening performance at Wexford Opera House: Franco Alfano Risurrezione.

4

Morning lecture: Introduction to Medea. Excursion to Borris House (home to MacMurrough Kavanagh family, High Kings of Leinster). Afternoon festival ’shortwork’ at the Clayton Whites Hotel: Verdi Rigoletto. Evening performance at Wexford Opera House: Luigi Cherubini Medea.

5

Excursion to Huntington Castle, Clonegall. Continue to Dublin for 1550 departure, arriving Heathrow 1715.
