Depart London Heathrow 1025 on British Airways, arriving Milan Linate 1325. Transfer to Grand Hotel de la Ville, Parma, for six nights.
Morning: guided tour of Parma including Baptistery and Cathedral, with optional visit to Toscanini Birthplace. Free afternoon. There will be a festival performance of Verdi’s Ernani this evening which participants are welcome to attend independently.
Morning lecture introducing Rigoletto followed by excursion to Busseto for visit to Renata Tebaldi Museum. Afternoon: Villa Verdi in Sant’Agata (house and gardens) and Culatello di Zibello (traditional Culatello ham cellar) for visit and dinner. Evening performance at Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, Busseto: Rigoletto.
Morning lecture introducing I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata, followed by guided tour of ancient organs (with organ recitals by our Tour Director) in Church of Santa Cristina, Parma Cathedral and Church of San Giovanni, including a tour of library and Benedictine complex (time permitting). Free afternoon. Evening performance at the Teatro Regio di Parma: I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata.
Free morning. Afternoon lecture introducing Macbeth, followed by guided visit to the Teatro Farnese. Evening performance at the Chiesa di San Francesco del Prato: Macbeth (French version).
Whole day excursion to Cremona for visits to Museo del Violino (with instruments by Stradivari, Amati and Guarneri) and violinmaker’s workshop with demonstration.
Depart Milan Linate 1320, arriving Heathrow 1420.

ACE GENTLER TOURS
Verdi Festival in Parma is one in a series of more gently paced tours, created specially by ACE for those who prefer a more relaxed, less physically demanding itinerary whilst retaining the same high level of academic content.
Our usual fitness criteria still apply for this tour, however there will be more opportunity for downtime or private exploration and group members are encouraged to enjoy each location at their own pace. Hotels will be situated in central locations to allow for ease of access to major amenities.
