Itinerary

Day

1

Depart Heathrow 1145 on British Airways, arriving Amsterdam 1405. Transfer to Hotel Estheréa, Amsterdam for four nights. Orientation walking tour and introduction.

Day

2

Morning lecture: The Life and Career of Vincent van Gogh followed by excursion to the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, housing the second largest collection of van Gogh paintings in the world (including his Café Terrace at Night). Return to Amsterdam for the van Gogh Museum (largest collection of van Gogh paintings including the more famous version of The Potato Eaters and the artist’s Bedroom).

Day

3

Morning lecture: Vincent van Gogh and his Contemporaries. Whole-day excursion to Het Noordbrabants Museum followed by Nuenen for guided walking tour and the Nuenen Vincentre. Dinner in the old Watermill at Opwetten.

Day

4

Depart for whole-day excursion to The Hague including the Gemeentemuseum (special exhibition: Mondrian: A Major Retrospective) and the Mauritshuis (outstanding works by 17th century masters).

Day

5

Morning visit to the Rijksmuseum. Depart Amsterdam 1620, arriving Heathrow 1640.
