Itinerary
Day
1
Depart Heathrow 1125 on Air Malta, arriving Malta 1535. Transfer to the Grand Hotel Excelsior for six nights. Evening festival performance featuring Lautten Compagney.
Day
2
Morning lecture followed by orientation walking tour of Valletta. Lunchtime festival performance: English songs by Dowland and Purcell. Afternoon visit to Co-Cathedral of St John and Oratory (important masterpieces by Mattia Preti and Caravaggio) and State Rooms.
Day
3
Morning: Domus Romana Museum (mosaics) and St Paul’s Catacombs. Afternoon: Mdina for Cathedral and Museum. Evening festival performance featuring Ensemble Zefiro with Alfredo Bernardini (conductor): works by Telemann, Bach and Fasch.
Day
4
Whole day ferry excursion to island of Gozo: prehistoric temple of Ggantija, Dwejra Bay (Fungus Rock of the Knights), Victoria (walled citadel) and St John’s Basilica. Evening lecture.

5
Free morning followed by lunchtime festival performance featuring Ashley Solomon and Terence Charlston: flute sonatas by Bach. Afternoon visit to Casa Rocca Piccola (16th century palace) followed by evening festival performance featuring Accademia del Piacere with Nuria Rial (soprano) and Fahmi Alqhai (conductor): works by Sebastián Durón.

6
Morning lecture followed by visits in Valletta. Evening festival performance featuring Orquestra Divino Sospiro: Antonio Caldara Maddalena Ai Piedi di Cristo.
Day
7
Illustrated morning lecture: The Baroque Flute – its History, Development and Repertoire. Free time. Depart Malta 1655, arriving Heathrow 1925.
