• Develop knowledge about plant and bird colonisation during a walk in the forest regeneration area on the site of the Centro do Priolo

Depart Heathrow 0815 on TAP Portugal via Lisbon for Ponta Delgada, arriving 1715. Transfer to Azoris Royal Garden Hotel for three nights.
Excursion to Sete Cidades volcanic crater and twin lakes, followed by visit to nearby pineapple plantation and ethnographic museum in Capelas. Evening presentation on volcanology from a representative of the Volcanology Centre at Azores University (subject to confirmation).
Visit to Volcanology Centre at Azores University followed by walking tour of Ponta Delgada including São Sebastião Church and visit to Ponta Delgada Museum.
Lagoa do Fogo (weather permitting) and visit to Gorreana tea plantation followed by traditional cozido lunch (local speciality cooked in underground ovens). Afternoon: Furnas hot springs. Continue to Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, Achada Valley, for three nights.
New Year’s Eve Whole day excursion towards and beyond Nordeste. Continue for walk in endemic forest regeneration area (Azorian bullfinch) and visit to waterfalls and watermills of Achada. Evening lecture followed by celebratory dinner with fireworks.
New Year’s Day Free morning followed by relaxed afternoon walk in Terra Nostra Botanical Park. Evening lecture.
Some free time. Depart Ponta Delgada 1320 via Lisbon, arriving Heathrow 2130.
