Itinerary

Day

1

Depart Heathrow 1025 on United Airlines, arriving New York Newark 1355.

Day

2

Orientation tour including Broadway, Times Square, Washington Square, Greenwich Village, Financial District, Ground Zero and Central Park. Evening performance at the Metropolitan Opera: Wagner Parsifal.

Day

3

Morning lecture followed by visit to the Frick Collection. Free afternoon. Evening performance at the Metropolitan Opera: Puccini La bohème.

Day

4

Morning lecture followed by visits to Empire State Building and the Lincoln Center. Afternoon: backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera. Evening performance of Brahms’s piano trios at Carnegie Hall with Emanuel Ax (piano), Leonidas Kavakos (violin) and Yo Yo Ma (cello).

Day

5

Morning: tour of New York Harbour (including views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island). Free afternoon.

Day

6

Morning lecture followed by visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Evening performance at the Metropolitan Opera: Rossini Semiramide.

Day

7

Morning visit to the Guggenheim Museum. Transfer to airport for 1755 departure.
