Tour assembles 1230 at Chesterfield Station followed by 1300 at Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, for four nights. Afternoon: Haddon Hall (fortified medieval manor house). Evening introductory lecture.
Morning: Tissington Hall (Jacobean house with later additions). Afternoon: Sudbury Hall (late 17th century house with lavish interiors) and Kedleston Hall (stunning 18th century ‘temple of the arts’ with Robert Adam interiors).
Morning: Staunton Harold Church (17th century with fine panelled interior) and Melbourne Church. Afternoon: Melbourne Hall Gardens (early 18th century garden in the manner of Le Notre) and Calke Abbey (18th century stately home telling the story of 20th century decline).
Morning: Bolsover Castle (with guest guide, Dr David Bostwick). Afternoon: Hardwick Hall (with guest guide, Dr David Bostwick). Evening lecture.
Morning: Renishaw Hall (home of the Sitwell family for over 350 years). Tour disperses c 1400 at Chesterfield Station followed by c 1445 at the hotel.

A good level of fitness is required for this tour as it involves a moderate amount of walking, including over uneven ground and potentially slippery surfaces. Please note that historical buildings do not always have lifts, so participants must be comfortable with navigating stairs, often without handrails.
