Itinerary

Day

1

Assemble 1700 at the Maids Head Hotel, Norwich, for three nights. Welcome drink and evening lecture: The Signs of the Times.

Day

2

St Peter and St Paul, Knapton (extraordinary double-hammerbeam roof, rafters filled with angels), St Margaret’s, Cley (medieval ship graffiti), St Peter and St Paul, Salle (magnificent wool church), St Agnes’s, Cawston (fine 15th century rood screen).

Day

3

All Saints, Weston Longville (mural and Apostles’ Creed screen), St Lawrence, Castle Rising (remarkable 12th century church), St Peter’s, Walpole St Peter (sometimes known as the ‘Cathedral of the Fens’), St Mary’s, North Tuddenham (medieval stained glass).

Day

4

St Helen, Ranworth (exquisite screen), All Saints, Hemblington (best surviving mural of St Christopher), St Edmund’s, Acle (plague inscription), St Andrew’s, Wickhampton (14th century murals). Tour disperses 1545 at Norwich train station, 1600 at the hotel.
