Assemble 1100 at Francis Hotel for three nights. Welcome and introduction followed by guided walking tour. Afternoon lecture followed by evening performance at Assembly Rooms featuring Belcea Quartet: Beethoven String Quartet No 2 in G, String Quartet in F minor ‘Quartetto Serioso’, String Quartet in C sharp minor.
Morning visit to Holburne Museum including illustrated lecture using the museum’s Schantz fortepiano. Afternoon performance at Guildhall featuring BBC New Generation Young Artists, Aris Quartet, Eivind Ringstad (viola) and Alec Frank-Gemmill (horn): Haydn String Quartet in B flat ‘The Sunrise’; Mozart Quintet in E flat for horn, violin, 2 violas & cello, String Quintet in G minor. Evening performance at Assembly Rooms featuring Imogen Cooper (piano): Schubert Sonata in C minor, Sonata in A, Sonata in B flat.
Morning guided tour of Bath Abbey followed by performance at Assembly Rooms featuring Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) and Alexei Grynyuk (piano): Mozart Piano Sonata in A; Beethoven Cello Sonata No 3 in A; Mozart Piano Sonata in F; Beethoven Cello Sonata No 5 in D. Some free time followed by afternoon lecture. Evening performance at The Forum featuring ‘BBC National Orchestra of Wales’, Joseph Swensen (conductor) and Yevgeny Sudbin (piano): Grieg Peer Gynt Suite No 1; Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2; Tchaikovsky Symphony No 6.
