Tour assembles late afternoon at Madingley Hall for three nights. Welcome, introduction and pre-dinner music.
Whole day excursion by coach to Stapleford Granary for morning sessions including lecture with Sarah Burles: The Christmas Story in Art, and a song recital with William Searle (tenor). Afternoon: talk and performance featuring Margaret Faultless, singers and instrumentalists: arias from Bach’s Christmas and Advent cantatas, arias from Handel’s Messiah, Corelli’s ‘Christmas Concerto’. Evening: festive dinner at Madingley Hall.
Morning visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, for guided tour with Sarah Burles and some free time. Afternoon: Magical Mythologies - a session of Shakespeare, story and illusion with actor Peter Clifford at Stapleford Granary, followed by opportunity to enjoy Christmas markets. Pre-dinner music at Madingley Hall.
Morning: performance featuring the Rocambolesco Quartet followed by illustrated lecture with Paul Jackson: The History of the Christmas Carol. Tour disperses 1230 at Madingley Hall.

FITNESS / PRACTICALITIES
Participants must meet ACE’s usual fitness criteria, as outlined in our Booking Terms & Conditions. This festival is not expected to be particularly strenuous, as the majority of events will take place at either Madingley Hall or Stapleford Granary, with coaches used to transport participants between the two. Our visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge will involve periods of walking and standing, and the Christmas markets at Stapleford Granary will be held outside under a stretch tent. Please also note that the concert spaces at both Madingley Hall and Stapleford Granary are accessed by flights of stairs, however a small lift is available for those who need them.
Cost of £1095 includes: accommodation based on sharing a twin or double bedded room, performances & lectures as described, breakfast, two lunches, dinner with water & coffee, excursions & admissions, gratuities.
Not included: travel insurance, single room supplement £95.
