Joshua White

Biography

Joshua White has extensive experience lecturing in Modern and Contemporary art, teaching for over 18 years at Christie’s Education in London where he was director of ‘The London Art Course’. He has taught multiple courses over the years from Impressionism and Surrealism to Art Photography and Performance.

He is a founder and presenter of The Art Channel, an online project documenting and interpreting Modern and Contemporary art exhibitions in commercial galleries and public institutions. The channel has now received two million views.

Joshua has direct experience of the art market, working as a Gallery Director between 2018 and 2020 specialising in 20th Century photography.

Elsewhere, he has lectured for Sotheby’s Institute, The University of the Arts, The University of California, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, Somerset House and The Design Museum. Further to his institutional work, he has worked with numerous private clients in London and led groups abroad in Berlin, the Venice Biennale and Documenta in Kassel.

On television and radio, Joshua has been a guest contributor to Channel 5’s Great Paintings of the World, BBC Radio 4’s Behind The Scenes and BBC Radio 3’s Turning Picasso. He has written exhibition catalogues and been published by the BBC, The Financial Times, Christie’s Magazine and Flash Art.

Joshua is a graduate of Oxford University in Modern History and has an M.Phil degree from Christie’s Education and the University of Glasgow in the History of Art.
