Archaeology
Our programme for 2012 covers many aspects of British, European and world archaeology and includes tours of Hadrian’s Wall, the Outer Hebrides, Jordan, Northern Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Persia.
Architecture
We examine the architectural achievements of Sir Christopher Wren and Robert Adam and Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 2012 as well as exploring country houses and churches. We also visit exotic architecture in Burma and Japan.
Art
Hepworth, Hockney & Moore in Yorkshire contrast with Art on the Cote d’Azur, Klimt in Vienna and Piero della Francesca in Tuscany in our art tour programme of 2012. Further art treasures are revealed in Budapest, China and Copenhagen.
Christmas & New Year
In 2011 our selection of Christmas and New Year itineraries covers some of Europe’s finest art, architecture and music in Dresden and Rome, we well as dramatic scenery along Portugal’s “River of Gold” – the Douro.
Cultural Cruises
On our small ship cruises – for between 16 and 40 participants – we explore Aigues Mortes to Avignon in Provence as well as the Lycian coast of Turkey and ancient Egypt from the Nile.
English Heritage
Our 2012 English Heritage Travel collection of 21 tours covers many themes and destinations, from Roman Scotland, Yorkshire Minsters & Monasteries to the World of St Cuthbert & St Bede.
Gastronomy
Although we don’t offer any gastronomy tours in 2012 many tours offer local cuisine of very high quality, not least our privately catered stay in the Cairngorms and our full board cruises in Provence.
Historical
Henry VIII & his Courtiers and Secret War both feature in our 2012 historical themed tour programme, along with Historic Malta and From Dunkirk to Normandy.
Houses & Gardens
In 2012 we visit historic halls and houses in Norfolk, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire. Further afield we tour palaces in Poland and St Petersburg as well as villas and gardens in Italy.
Music
Our music tours in 2012 encompass Opera in Berlin, Wagner’s Ring Cycle in New York as well as festivals in Colmar and West Cork. We also hear Bach in Leipzig and Schubert in Schwarzenberg.
Natural History
Our 2012 programme includes the Outer Hebrides and the Cairngorms while early in 2013 we explore the remote beauty of New Zealand, the dramatic island of Tasmania and incredible wildlife in Uganda.
Theatre
On our tours to Shakespeare’s Stratford in early 2012 we see three RSC performances at both the Swan Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Theatre as well as gaining insight to life behind the scenes.
