Itinerary

Day

1

Depart Heathrow 1035 on SAS, arriving Stockholm 1405. Transfer to Victory Hotel for four nights. Evening: dinner cruise to Drottningholm Palace (residence of the King and Queen of Sweden).

Day

2

Morning lecture: Stockholm – City of a Thousand Islands followed by walking tour of Riddarholmen and Gamla Stan (old town) including Riddarholmen Church (final resting place of the Swedish kings) and Riddarhuset (House of Nobility). Afternoon: guided tour of Swedish Royal Opera House followed by evening performance: Der Rosenkavalier.

Day

3

Morning lecture: Swedish Style followed by ferry to Djurgården: Vasa (world’s oldest warship) and Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde (art museum). Free afternoon.

Day

4

Visit to Drottningholm Palace complex, including Versailles- style formal gardens, well-preserved 18th century theatre and Chinese pavilion. Smörgåsbord dinner at the Grand Hotel’s Veranda restaurant.

Day

5

Morning: visit to Stockholm City Hall followed by the Royal Armoury (Livrustkammaren) at the Royal Palace (collection of costumes). Depart Stockholm 1615, arriving Heathrow at 1750.
