Itinerary

Day

1

Depart Heathrow 0920, arriving Milan Linate 1220; transfer by coach to Hotel Excelsior San Marco, Bergamo for three nights. Afternoon: walking tour in Città Alta including San Bartolomeo, Santo Spirito, San Bernardino and tour of Palazzo Agliardi (home to Conte and Contessa Agliardi).

2

Morning walking tour including Colle Aperto (upper city), Piazza Vecchia and Piazza Duomo. Afternoon: tour and private lunch at Palazzo Moroni, continue for private visit to Villa Moroni, Stezzano. Free evening.

Day

3

Excursion to Villa Agliardi, with fine Baroque frescoes and giardino inglese. Continue to Rococo Villa Sommi Picenardi for tour and private lunch. Free time in Bergamo (opportunity to visit Accademia Carrara, with outstanding picture collection). Evening: Private tour at Palazzo Terzi, with its spectacular Rococo mirror room.

4

Depart for Brescia via Cappella Suardi Trescore (superb frescoes by Lotto) and neoclassical Villa Medolago Albani, Redona. Transfer to Hotel Vittoria, Brescia for three nights. Walking tour of central Brescia including Duomo Vecchio, Duomo Nuovo, Santi Faustino e Giovita (Tiepolo frescoes), Piazza della Loggia, Piazza della Vittoria.

5

Whole day excursion including Villa Lechi, Montirone, one of the finest villas of northern Italy, and the romantic Villa Borghese Cavazza, on Isola di Garda (previously known as Villa De Ferrari). Free evening.

Brescia: Palazzo Martinengo Palatini, Palazzo Martinengo Villagana, Santi Nazaro e Celso, San Francesco and Circolo del Teatro. Afternoon: Palazzo Gaifami. Free time to visit Roman Capitolium temple and fabulous Santa Giulia museum complex.

7

Morning: neoclassical Cimitero Vantiniano, and frescoed Villa Porcellago at Roncadelle. Afternoon: Castello di Malpaga. Depart Milan Linate 1910, arriving Heathrow 2010.
