This cultural tour to Portugal starts in Porto, visiting nearby Guimarães and then goes south, pausing, like the Grand Tourists of the 18th and 19th century, in the arboretum of the Buçaco National Park, before moving on to Coimbra, Lisbon and Sintra.
Take in northern Portugal’s array of cultural gems from medieval castles to Romantic palaces, and from formal landscaped gardens to ancient arboretums.
• Enjoy guided tours of several sites by the owners themselves, including Quinta de Villar d’Allen and Mosteiro de Landim.
• Highlights will include the medieval capital Coimbra, the royal summer retreat of Sintra, and Lisbon’s Palace of Queluz, the ‘Portuguese Versailles’.
The 2017 tour is now full, contact the ACE office to register interest in the next departure in March 2018.
