Depart Heathrow 1015 on British Airways, arriving Prague 1315. Transfer to Hotel K&K Central for five nights. Introductory lecture followed by evening performance at Musical Theatre Karlin (Prague State Opera): Verdi La traviata.
Prague Castle (largest castle complex in the world), St Nicholas Church and ‘Lesser Town’, St Vitus Cathedral (superb Gothic architecture and seat of Prague’s Archbishop) and Golden Lane. Smetana Museum with private piano recital. Evening performance at Prague National Theatre: Smetana The Bartered Bride.
New Year’s Eve Morning: Walk in Old Town to Wenceslas Square (Prague’s main Christmas market) followed by tour of the Jewish Quarter including a visit to the Spanish Synagogue (Moorish Revival architecture). Afternoon performance at Prague National Theatre: Strauss Die Fledermaus. Evening: celebratory dinner and New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Old Town square.
New Year’s Day Excursion to Kutná Hora for visits to the Church of St Barbara (with organ recital by Tour Director) and guided tour of the Italian Court. New Year Concert at the Municipal Hall.
Private tour of Estates Theatre followed by visit to Dvorák Museum (private piano recital by Tour Director). Free afternoon.
Transfer to Jindichv Hradec for overnight at Hotel Concertino. Private tour of Červená Lhota Castle and special visit to Jindichv Hradec Castle including dinner at castle restaurant and a private piano recital by Tour Director.
Morning: Museum of Jindichv Hradec (Krza’s crèche, the largest mechanical nativity scene in the world). Depart Prague 1420, arriving Heathrow 1535.
