Itinerary

Day

1

Tour assembles 1345 at Marriot City Centre Hotel for three nights. Afternoon: Metropolitan Cathedral (Lutyens Crypt), Liverpool Cathedral (Giles Gilbert Scott). Evening talk by guest lecturer: Poetry, Passion and the Pre-Raphaelites.

Day

2

Knowsley Hall (seat of the Earls of Derby), Ullet Road Unitarian Church (William Morris stained glass), Albert Dock (independent visits: Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, International Museum of Slavery). Evening talk by guest lecturer: Speke Hall.

Day

3

Morning: Liverpool Town Hall, Port Sunlight Village (garden village founded in 1888 to house soap factory workers), Lady Lever Art Gallery (outstanding collections of Wedgwood and Chinese porcelain). Afternoon: Speke Hall (Tudor manor house). Evening lecture: Liverpool, City of Delight.

4

Morning: Mersey Ferry cruise, Princes Road Synagogue (Moorish revival style architecture). Afternoon: Walker Art Gallery (superb collection of fine and decorative arts). Tour disperses 1530 at hotel.
