Glyndebourne

October, 2018 | Tour Director: Sandy Burnett / Nicholas Wearne

DESCRIPTION

Glyndebourne’s annual tour of world-class opera begins at its East Sussex home. Every year, the Glyndebourne Tour produces an exhilarating programme of world-class opera featuring young and promising singers. Many international careers – such as those of Thomas Allen, Felicity Lott and Willard White – began with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, as it was originally called.

Previous tours have included performances of some of the world’s most beloved operas, including Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia and Puccini’s Madama Butterly. Our 2018 tours will include two evening operas, around which will be woven daytime excursions to nearby cultural attractions, including beautiful Charleston House, where the Bloomsbury set once met, Michelham Priory, and Anne of Cleves House in the charming town of Lewes.

Our first tour to Glyndebourne will be led by Nicholas Wearne, BA, MPhil, a former ACE Bursary student and former organist at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, currently holds a Junior Fellowship at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Our second departure will be led by Sandy Burnett, MA, a musician and broadcaster who spent a decade as a presenter on BBC Radio 3, and has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal National Theatre.
