Depart London Heathrow 1145 on British Airways, arriving Larnaca 1820. Transfer to Paphos for three nights at Hotel Aloe.
Morning lecture: Cyprus in Geography and History followed by visits in Paphos: Archaeological Park (Roman mosaics, Saranda Kolones medieval castle). Afternoon: Maa-Palaeokastro (Bronze Age settlement and Museum of Mycenaean Colonisation), Church of Agia Kyriaki Chrysopolitissa, St Paul’s Pillar.
Morning in Paphos: Hellenistic ‘Tombs of the Kings’. Continue to Geroskipou for Church of Agia Paraskevi (9th to 15th century frescoes) and Folk Art Museum. Afternoon in Kouklia (main site, museum, Persian siege-mound, medieval sugar cane mill).
Kourion (archaeological site including Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates and stadium), Kolossi Castle. Transfer to Limassol for three nights at Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Morning: Amathous archaeological site, Limassol Castle (medieval museum). Free afternoon. Evening lecture: Cypriot Artefacts & Art.
Morning: Troodos Mountains, Church of Panagia tou Arakos in Lagoudera and Church of Panagia Phorviotissa in Asinou (visits subject to confirmation). Afternoon: churches of Panagia Podithou and Panagia Theotokos in Galata followed by Church of Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis in Kakopetria.
Morning visits to Choirokoitia Neolithic settlement (UNESCO World Heritage site), Pano Lefkara (traditional lacemaking) then continue to Larnaca for District Archaeological Museum. Afternoon: Church of Agios Lazaros in Larnaca and Church of Panagia Angeloktisti in Kiti. Transfer to Nicosia for four nights at Centrum Hotel.
Morning: Cyprus Museum, Byzantine Museum, Church of Agios Ioannis, House of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios. Afternoon: Selimiye Mosque (formerly Cathedral of St Sophia), Bedesten (Church of St Nicholas – exterior) and Büyük Han (Ottoman caravanserai).
Into northern Cyprus for St Hilarion Castle (mountaintop fortress) and Bellapais Abbey (probably the finest surviving Gothic monument in Cyprus). Afternoon: Kyrenia (castle and shipwreck museum).
Morning: ancient Greek city of Salamis. Afternoon in medieval Famagusta (citadel and walking tour followed by some free time).
Morning visits to monastery of Agios Iraklidios in Politiko and Hala Sultan Tekke near Larnaca (burial place of Umm Haram, a close friend or relative of the Prophet Muhammad). Depart Larnaca 1730, arriving Heathrow 2030.
