Hilary is a cultural historian specialising in the art, archaeology and craft traditions of India and Iran.

Hilary has travelled extensively throughout the Indian subcontinent, from central India to Rishikesh and from the Bay of Bengal to Gujarat.

Hilary has also recently revised the Bradt Guide to Iran, due out in autumn 2009.

Studies in the history of ideas in 15th century Italy led to Hilary's abiding concern with religious philosophies and iconography.

Hilary is also a Blue Badge Guide in Britain.
